Nuclear PWR power plant combined with production of hydrogen and synthetic fuels
Original language description
This paper presents the possibility of the hydrogen and oxygen production by high temperature steam electrolysis integrated into the nuclear power plant with pressurized water reactor and, re-usage of CO2 pollutants from the oxyfuel power plant, utilizing produced oxygen, for liquid methanol/hydrocarbon synfuels production. The study deals with energy balance of the two high temperature electrolysis systems, i. e. SOEC (Solid Oxide Electrolysis Cell) and SOFEC (Solid Oxide Fuel assisted Electrolysis Cell), together with related economic estimates of hydrogen and methanol production costs.
