On the Numerical Simulation of Blood Coagulation in Flowing Blood
Original language description
This study presents a numerical simulation of blood coagulation in the injured blood vessel. Mathematical model is based on incompressible Navier-Stokes equations which are generalized to take into account viscoelasticity and shear-thinning properties ofblood flow. The blood coagulation model consists of chemical reactions of 28 constituents described by advection-diffusion equations. The numerical method used for solution of the system of equations is based on the Finite Volume discretization. All themodels are implemented in OpenFOAM, the open source CFD toolbox.
