Experimental setup for the ALICE experiment
Original language description
We have prepared an experimental laboratory setup for the testing and simulations of the evaporative cooling that have similar parameters as a cooling system for SPD at the ALICE experiment. The setup is designed in a way that allows it to simulate different conditions during the cooling operation. Its first purpose is to show the influence of the polluted filters (by dust particles) in the coolant on the filter pressure drop. Therefore, we have installed a set of multiple pressure and temperature sensors over the whole installation. All sensors were precisely calibrated and connected to the DCS system that we have also prepared. The cooling process is controlled by the PLC unit that sets and monitors the flow of refrigerant through the structure.
