Gas dehydration by supersonic swirling separator
Original language description
Natural gas is frequently stored in underground reservoirs. During storage it is being saturated by water vapor from the repository. Before the further distribution gas must be dehydrated to meet the transportation parameters specified by the gas distributors. The paper describes a new energy-saving gas-drying technology that uses a Laval nozzle. To remove moisture from the gas it flows through the nozzle. In the nozzle the gas is accelerated and its potential energy is transformed into kinetic energy. In the supersonic flow of gas temperature drops below the dew point of water vapor. With the help of induced swirling flow condensed water is separated from the rest of the gas stream by centrifugal forces. The disadvantage of this economical method is sensitivity on inlet parameters (flow rate, temperature and pressure). The goal of this paper is to formulate mathematical-physical model enabling to describe process and to explain the effect of the main parameters. Also the technical des
