Functionally Graded Materials - Application of PVD Coating on the Thermal Spray Coating
Original language description
This paper deals with application of PVD coating on a substrate created by thermal spray technology. The system consist of PVD coatings (Cr, Ti) deposited on the WC layer or Al2O3 produced by thermal spray technology (HVOF) on carbon steel. Coating was applied on substrate without surface treatment or grinded substrate. The experiment was focused on assessing the behaviour of the interface between PVD layer and thermal sprayed coating. "Mercedes test" and Scratch test methods were used to evaluate the adhesion. Metallographic observation was carried out using light and scanning electron microscopy.
