This article deals with the analysis of the gear loading capacity of the gears in dependence on case hardening depth and pressure angle. In the article are compared several gear geometries and case hardening depth with help of FEM. Reasons for gear failure such as pitting, micro-pitting, wear, tooth breakage, flank breakage and scuffing are described.
