Development of methodology for fretting fatigue evaluation - comparison of multiaxial fatigue criteria
Original language description
Current knowledge dealing with the fretting fatigue phenomenon and multiaxial fatigue criteria is briefly reviewed. The main goal of the presented work was to verify the prediction quality of the well known Crossland formula and its recent modification introduced by Mamiya et al. Numerically computed stress field histories in the vicinity of the contact area between flat dog-bone specimen and cylindrical fretting pad were used for evaluating the multiaxial fatigue criteria. The results show good correlation of the experimental data with the Crossland model while the Mamiya criterion is too conservative. This work was done in scope of development of the fretting fatigue evaluation methodology.
