Optimization of Internal Combustion Engine Cycle From Thermodynamic Point of View
Original language description
The presented document deals with optimization of internal combustion engine thermodynamic cycle. The main tool to achieve that is the application of the modelling approach. Six examples are presented to demonstrate an optimization procedure under different conditions - special attention is paid to turbocharging as it is believed that turbocharged engines will become an industry standard in almost all applications. It was confirmed that simulation is a both powerful and effective tool to find optimal engine setting even for a case of complex optimization problem including many constraints. The presented methods are capable of addressing important issues of contemporary internal combustion engines including a general target to improve engine efficiencywhile decreasing pollutant production. These methods are based on application of detailed calibrated thermodynamic engine model(s) in combination with advanced optimization tool(s).
