Three methods of determination of the axial thrust of axial flow impellers were realized: direct measurement of the axial thrust by weighing the whole agitated system, calculation of the axial momentum of axial flow impeller from the known mean velocityprofile in the impeller dis- charge flow, and theoretically determined axial thrust from predicted mean velocity field in the impeller discharge flow. Five down pumping pitched blade impellers and down pumping axial flow impeller with profile blade weretested.
