    Wet Biomass Utilization in a Heating Plant Cycle

    The potential of high-rank biomass suited for direct energy conversion decreases as its utilization constantly grows. On contrary, biomass with high moisture content has a high potential that has not been yet fully exploited. The paper describes a new concept of wet biomass utilization in a cycle of hot-water heating plant. The designed system is based on a standard hot-water heating cycle with an integrated indirect biomass dryer and condenser for utilization of waste vapor heat released during biomassdrying. The dryer is heated by hot water and is connected between a boiler and a heat consumer. Returned cold water is preheated by condensed waste vapor in the condenser. The proposed concept improves efficiency of energy conversion and therefore significantly reduces biomass consumption.
