Sludge suspensions exhibit significant non-Newtonian flow behaviour very often, which causes problems in mixing during their processing. Experimental work with these suspensions is not convenient due to several problems like hygiene, smell, storage, etc.Therefore, the paper is focused on finding a model suspension, whose properties correspond to the properties of real sludge and which would be more convenient for the further experimental work. There were measured densities and flow behaviour of severaltypes of real sludges. The flow properties were obtained from rheological experiments based on Metzner and Otto concept. The sludge suspensions were mixed in a vessel by retreat curved blade impeller having known Metzner and Otto constant. From values of torque and rotations of the impeller the flow properties where determined. The sludge exhibited strong non-Newtonian behaviour corresponding to power law model with flow index in range from 0.07 to 0.22 and coefficient of consistency in
