*Permanently rising prices of fuel and increasingly stringent emission regulations are generally considered to be the reason for creation and use of hybrid drives. However recent development shows that it is not the only reason and the hybrids also comefrom other motives. The article shows five different approaches, how and why the hybrid drives are created: battery electric hybrids, air hybrid, applications for sports and racing cars, hybrids for long-distance trucks and for military use.
