Paper presents a numerical simulation of the buckling of a composite plate stiffened by stringers made from 5H satin fabric with a carbon fiber and a thermoplastic PPS matrix. Three types of plates were investigated (different lay-up, plates with constant or varying thickness) and a comparison is made between the results obtained for solid elements and for continuum shell elements.
