Local turbulent energy dissipation rate in an vessel agitated by a Rushton turbine
Original language description
The scaling of turbulence characteristics such as turbulent fluctuation velocity, turbulent kinetic energy and turbulent energy dissipation rate was investigated in mechanically agitated vessel of a vessel of diameter T = 300 mm stirred by a Rushton turbine at high Reynolds number in the range 50 000 < Re < 100 000. The hydrodynamics and flow field was measured using the 2-D TR PIV. The convective velocity formulas proposed by Antoine et al. (1980) and Van Doorn (1981) were tested. The energy dissipation rate estimated using one-dimensional approach was not found same in each direction. Using the proposed correction the values in both direction were found close to each other. According to the test of hypothesis the relation e/(N3.D2) = const. can bee accepted. Similarly, the relation L? d was not clearly confirmed.
