Because of the introduction of new telescope production for the second largest world producer of cranes TADANO FAUN verification tests were carried out before WPQR testing prior to the start of production. The tests should have verified the correctness of the selected welding procedure using two welding methods. The product base material is XABO 1100 (equivalent designation S1100QL). Method 135 (MAG welding with tractor) with additional material UNION X90 was used for welding of inner side of the tube with wall thickness of 10 mm. Seam (underlay) was welded in a protective atmosphere of mixed active gas 85% Ar + 15% CO2. Outer welds were welded by method 121 (automat welding using welding flux) with additional material OK AUTROD 13.43 and welding fluxOK Flux 10.62. The weld has been welded in position PA with preheating of 80 °C.
