The paper presents a numerical study of the effect of missing 2U blending plate on data center management. The temperature and flow field characteristics, which are influenced by improper operation mode of the data center, are investigated on the model of two-stage cooling with extended possibilities of using the free cooling. The study also contains simulation of influence of switched-off server. Based on the CFD simulations results, the energy loss arising from the missing blending plate and switched-off 1U server is subsequently determined
