Original language description
Advanced high strength steels and ultra-high strength steels with a martensitic structure are being extensively used in automotive industry in order to reduce the weight of car parts while maintaining safety standards. Al-Si coating which is essential for preventing high temperature oxidation causes problems not only during the forming of parts, but also during further phases of the production process. The characteristics of Al-Si coating along with known effects, either desirable or undesirable, on the manufacturing process are summarized in this chapter.
