Original language description
For the effective use of CFD simulations in HVAC design, it is vital to reduce the time needed for preparation of computational models and for calculations. One of the possible ways to achieve this goal is to simplify numerical models providing that the results accuracy is not significantly lowered. The paper deals with simplified modelling of large number of heat sources in indoor space. A CFD study has been conducted focusing on thermal plumes interaction above a group of sitting occupants acting as heat sources in a room. The effect of the simplification on the simulation results has been assessed for the studied case, where the thermal plumes interaction can be important.
