Specific topological configurations of heat pump devices lead to significant transportation effects. Such configuration (referred to as split unit design) include significant component interconnection piping lengths due to the fact that the evaporating unit is typically located away from the rest of the device. In such cases transportation delays cannot be neglected in the control design as they play a dominant role in overall cycle dynamics.
