Numerical Simulation of Non-equilibrium Condensation of Steam in Turbine Flows
Original language description
The paper describes numerical simulation of transonic flow of steam with non-equilibrium condensation in turbines. Simulations are based on a single-fluid model for mixture of vapor and droplets. The thermodynamic properties of steam are considered in form of perfect gas model and the real gas model of IAPWS for metastable region. All simulations have been performed using in-house developed finite volume codes. Non-equilibrium condensation is modeled by additional transport equations for liquid phase “moments”. These equations contain also nucleation and droplet growth source terms. Alternative condensation model, which approximates the non-equilibrium behavior by a “switch” from zero to equilibrium wetness is also presented. The latter model is intended rather for axisymmetric flow code using coarse structured grid. Its usability for turbine cascade flow simulations is discussed.
