Composite NDT Testing
Original language description
Parts made of composite materials can contain various defects. The most common defects are: delamination, incorrect orientation of fibers, non-uniform distribution of fibers or voids in the matrix. During the operation of a composite part these defects can serve as sources of critical failures of the parts. In terms of the manufacturing process defects can be detected by several NDT methods followed by evaluation and comparison with critical defects. On the basis of this process composite parts can be accepted or rejected. NDT test methods are used for the determination of critical failures during the operation of composite parts.
