Contribution of Contemporary CFD Methods to ICE Development and Optimization
Original language description
Current demands on ICE for automotive use. Main aerodynamic and combustion issues of ICE optimization. Detailed description of K-k-l model for squish and swirl flows with influence of axial gas motion in a cylinder. General assessment of CFD tools for turbulent flow simulation at low and high Re in engines. Turbulence models, attractiveness and issues of LES model. Examples of main issues of combustion, gas exchange or turbocharger simulation in CFD. Need for calibrations by experiments. The reasonable compromise between full CFD models and 1-D approach - quasi-3-D models.
