Wear assessment for a Common Rail diesel injector
Original language description
The aim of the work is to assess quantitatively the influence of a Common Rail diesel injector tip overheating on the injector performance. A characterization of the injection process has been carried out for the Common Rail injector in terms of both the rate-of-injection profile and spatial and temporal distribution of the fuel injected into a pressurized vessel at non-evaporative conditions. Two sets of experimental data were measured before and after the injector had been applied to a series of dual-fuel combustion experiments. The difference in the injector performance between these two measurements thus refers to the injector wear caused by both naturally aspirated and boosted engine experiments, including the stoichiometric regime.
