    Electro-flotation waste water treatment

    This paper summarises possibilities of electro-flotation in wastewater treatment. An integral part of electro-flotation wastewater treatment is adding of proper chemicals enabling coagulation and/or flocculation depending on the wastewater composition. The superposition of chemical additives and electro-flocculation effect ensure efficient waste water cleaning. Created floccules can be separated by the electro-flotation or classical sedimentation. The uptake of floated sludge can be done by either vacuum cleaner or by raking. Theoretical backgrounds will be explained in our presentation and scale up criteria of the process will be suggested. Our paper also shows the main tricks in electro-flotation design (material of electrodes, etc.) and the scaling up using a laboratory electro-flotator. Our successful applications of wastewater treatment enhanced by electro-flotation will be reported for the following cases: - Wastewaters from railway carriage washers - Wastewaters from rendering plants - Wastewaters from coke industry - Wastewaters from liquor production Separation efficiencies of this applications will also be reported. The main aim of this paper is to show advantages of the electro-flotation method for wastewater treatment and to bring some evidence of its fruitfulness.
