    This article deals with the application of drilling and tap threading technology on hard machinable material Weldox 960 without cutting fluid. It contains an analysis of suitable machining materials and tools coating for dry machining application. It describes the application of dry machining on plasma cut-off semi-finished sheet metal without inner tension. It also deals with the selection of suitable tools and cutting conditions. Further it describes the application of this technology on welded part with significant inner tension. It shows the complication that can arise in such case and the development of a tool specially adjusted for this usage. In the conclusion the application of the technology of dry tap threading on hard machinable materials is discussed.
