Particle to fluid relative velocity in an agitated vessel
Original language description
The settling particle velocity in a turbulent field affects many transfer phenomena. Most of the existing approaches use the settling particle velocity in a still liquid as the base for its calculation. However, the settling particle velocity in a still liquid and the settling particle velocity in a turbulent field may differ significantly from each other. The goal of this work is to develop a methodology for calculating the settling particle velocity in a turbulent field created by agitation. The simplified model based on sinusoidal turbulent velocity field of Ditl and Skřivánek [1] was improved by considering the real turbulent field. Prediction according the model proposed are compared and verified by rare directly measured experimental data.
