Original language description
This article deals with vibration damping of machine tools. It provides an overview of the causes of vibrations and strategies for their suppression and for increasing the damping of the structures. It also addresses specific examples of the use of vibration suppression methods in detail. In regard to active solutions, an enhanced real-time vibration detection approach is presented, further extended by controlled vibration dampers, is presented. In the field of passive solutions, applications which increased the damping of the machine using unconventional materials, space filling materials and hybrid structures are presented.
