A study on design optimization of direct-fired sCO2 combustors

  • Original language description

This work provides optimized guidelines for the development of direct-fired sCO 2 combustors. The combustor is modelled by coupling perfectly stirred reactor (PSR) and plug flow reactor (PFR) models with real-gas chemistry. The high pressure Aramco 2.0 mechanism is used to estimate the kinetic behavior of sCO 2 combustion under various operating conditions. Initially, the feasible CO 2 dilution levels in the primary zone and corresponding inlet temperatures are investigated for the design of sCO 2 combustor. The results show that the high temperature conditions such as, 1000 K under 45% CO 2 dilution level, and all temperature conditions under 30% CO 2 dilution level are practically possible for sCO 2 combustor design.
