    Validation of Fatigue Life Assessment Methodology

    The report summarizes the work done to validate the prediction methodology of thermo-mechanical fatigue (TMF), which was proposed for the purpose of lifetime assessment of steam turbine shafts. Detailed background on TMF methodology is provided. Thermo-mechanical fatigue experimental programme is introduced and the experimental results are confronted with prediction using this method. It is shown that the method is capable to predict material fatigue lifetime under various thermo-mechanical conditions that may participate on the shaft material damaging with a sufficient accuracy.
