The experimental cooling tower is designed as an exhausted tower with a cross-section of 1.8 x 1.8 m. Tower height is 6m. The tower is located above the water channel located in the floor. The channel is 12m long, 1.5m wide and 1.6m deep. There is a collecting pool for catching cooled water under the tower. A spraying system consisting of a manifold and spray nozzles is located above the infill space. A total of 110 nozzles spaced across the tower were used in the tower. The nozzle attachment system allows for smooth regulation of the distance from fills. A droplet eliminator layer is placed above the spray nozzles and the tower continues to the vent line to the fan. Acceleration of air flow is solved by radial medium pressure fan. The tower is connected to this fan, whose power is 37kW and the maximum speed is 1.475 RPM. The air flow through the fan is 54.000 m3 / h at a static pressure of approx. 160 Pa. The tower was equipped with the following measuring technology: - Water flow - induction flow meter ELIS IS 1-111 - Water inlet temperature - measured by 4x Pt100 in the inlet pipe close to the nozzles - Outlet water temperature - measured by 3x Pt100 in the drain tank drain - Air flow - measured total difference (4x) with static (4x) pressure on the nozzle in the pipe downstream the fan - Air Inlet Temperature Measured by 4x Pt100 at Tower Entrance (4x Dry thermometer) - Humidity Input - 4x psychrometer (4x wet thermometer) - Output humidity - 2x psychrometer (4x dry thermometer, 2x wet thermometer) - Static pressure above fill - differential pressure transducer Rosemount + probe to 100% humidity.
