WAAM optimized by trough arc seam tracking
Original language description
The aim of this study is to describe the effect of system control on the path of the welding robot by monitoring the arc values. Despite to development of new digitally controlled welding processes, welding technology is not constant process. Particularly in the case of the Wire and Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM), where individual layers of additive material are welded together, it is necessary to have constant welding parameters through the entire welding process. While monitoring the process control with the Through Arc Seam Tracking (TAST) system solution, it has been shown that due to the uneven surface of the previous weld pass, it is not possible to set a constant welding torch lift value. The result of the experiment showed that indeed there is not the same value for lifting a welding torch for each layer to maintain welding parameters. Parameters affecting the functionality of the TAST option have been identified and a new experiment can be set more accurately.
