Comparison of Methods for Calculation of Composite Wound Tube Deflection

  • Original language description

The work is aimed to facilitate the design of composite beams. The known methods of bending analysis of composite beams for different composite layups are compared in the presented paper. The paper presents the difference between the results of different calculation methods, both analytical and numerical, and the experimental data. Three models of FE analysis and analytical methods are used to identify the dependence of the deflection of the beam on the used method and to show the differences between the calculated results in comparison with the experiment. The classical laminated theory, the FE analysis and some new approaches are used in comparison with an experiment. Specimens made of three different materials stacked into four different layups that are used for the experiment. So it enables us to see the differences of the results from calculation methods in different cases of composite layups and their deviations. The aim of this work is to find an analytical simple tool for computation of the deformation of the composite beams that can be used for initial designs and sizing.
