Original language description
The growing sales of electric vehicles (EVs) go hand in hand with increasing presence of Li-ion batteries (LIB) that has triggered a growing interest in the environmental impacts associated with their production, usage and end-of-life state. The major motivator for shifting towards EVs is the need for reducing CO2 emissions. The success of the EVs adoption is from a big portion dependent on the battery technology and its environmental impacts. This paper provides a review of battery technology used within EVs and their environmental impacts originating from the production and usage of LIB.
