Improving Quality In Value Stream Mapping
Original language description
The current increase in the popularity of implementing a lean manufacturing concept that aims to satisfy customer requirements and ensure continuous improvement of the entire organization through the elimination of waste is now almost a necessity; not only for manufacturing companies but also for companies in other industries given the rapidly changing nature of today's world. One of the lean manufacturing tools being used to analyze, visualize, identify causes, bottlenecks and waste of a process is Value Stream Mapping (VSM): which can be applied to the entire company or its individual sections. The aim of this paper is to highlight some of the limitations of VSM in terms of quality measurement, and to present improvement possibilities for the tool by focusing on the quality of the process output as a whole, along with its individual activities.
