    The topic of this paper is topology optimization of truss structures. Firstly, the field of topology optimization is briefly introduced and various problem formulations and means of solving them are presented. The theory is supported by solving a general truss topology optimization problem with self-written code in Python. Lastly, a more difficult problem is solved and potential extensions to existing theory and implementations are outlined.
