Feed Drive Axis Force Decrease by Telescopic Cover Detachment

  • Original language description

Influences on the axis of motion by passive force effects of components have a detrimental effect on the uniformity of motion and positioning accuracy. By sophisticated ways of modelling these phenomena, very nice results can be achieved to counteract these negative effects. Furthermore, by means of innovative surface treatments and lubricants, a reduction of the cause, i.e. the passive resistance of specific components, can be achieved. A better result can be achieved by disconnecting a component that is not necessary for the movement. This paper deals with the disconnection of the telescopic housing in order to reduce the force impact on the motion axis during reversal and cyclic low stroke motion. Reference motions and the benefit of load force decoupling were tested using the cover segment decoupling mechanism. This approach was further simulated using a motion axis model with discrete motion screw elements and an identified telescopic cover model. The simulation made it possible to simulate modes of motion axis control that could not be implemented in the experiment. As a result of the decoupling of the cover segment during motion reversal, the passive drag force from the telescopic cover was significantly reduced, thus reducing the negative effect on the motion axis accuracy.
