The Analysis of Fatigue Life Prediction of the Metallic Bone Plates for Osteosynthesis
Original language description
This paper deals with fatigue life prediction of metallic bone plates performed by SIMULIA fe-safe software. Two materials commonly used for surgical implants were subjected to the investigation: stainless steel for implants 316 L (ASTM F138) and titanium alloy Ti6Al4V ELI (ASTM F136). Material properties necessary for the prediction were determined from uniaxial tensile tests and four-point bending fatigue tests. Several types of bone plates were subjected to four-point bending fatigue testing in order to allow for the comparison of the fatigue life prediction results with the measured data from the experiments.
