Comparison of tools made by 3D printing

  • Original language description

To reduce production costs, efforts are being made to replace conventional technologies with additive manufacturing. Metal tools are commonly used for pressing and bending. The aim of this work is to compare tools made by 3D printing from PLA material. In the first part of the work, it is necessary to experimentally verify the mechanical properties of the material used, produced by Creality. For this purpose, tensile tests (according to EN ISO 527-1), three-point bending (according to EN ISO 178), pressure and buckling tests (both according to EN ISO 844) are used. For each of these tests, test bodies and their printing parameters are designed. In particular, the effect of the density and type of infill and the orientation of the part on the printing pad on the mechanical properties is monitored. In the second part, three geometries of the bending tool are selected. Depending on the results of the mechanical tests, the printing parameters are selected. The tooling tests then consist of successive bending of six types of sheet metal with increasing strength. The aim of the tests is to determine the limits of these tools when they are destroyed. The printing is carried out on a Creality-modified ENDER 3 PRO printer
