WEDM (Wire Electro Discharge Machining) machines are very precision machining devices that can make a workpiece with a high accuracy. However, workpiece have to be adjusted and clamped precisely. It wouldn’t be a problem when 2D shapes are machined and all works are made on the same machine under the same angle. The problem comes when 3D objects are machined and-or some places are machined before, or in more different positions. This paper deals with the problem of adjusting the wire of the wire cutter to the centre of the predrilled hole in some workpiece. School EDM machine with wire cutter attachments is used as a model device for developing and testing the adjusting algorithm. In this paper, the problem, method of developing, testing and optimizing the adjusting algorithm and the algorithm itself is described. At the end the applicability of solution is evaluated.
