Original language description
EC stresses in all recent climate-change mitigating documents “efficiency”. The contribution tries to explain very different meanings of this apparently clear word, using theory of thermodynamic open systems. These systems cannot be described by standard thermal efficiency with clear output and input. The current definitions are more like thermodynamic efficiencies, comparing real system output with ideal system potential. The paper shows different definitions, suitable for the intuitive use, and presents possible issues associated with them.
