Detailed Thermodynamic Model of Dynamic Cylinder Deactivation
Original language description
Final 1-D model of dynamic cylinder deactivation is applied on a small 4-cylinder gasoline engine. It allows to run an arbitrary GT-Power engine model in dynamic cylinder deactivation mode and predicts its fuel saving potential. The subassembly attached to a GT-Power engine model includes control of the engine in an arbitrary dynamic deactivation mode, shows cycle average results and instantaneous plots during the deactivation mode and also shows energy balance tool, which addresses all individual losses during the dynamic cylinder deactivation mode. The model can reliably produce steady state results at all engine operating modes and can generate inputs for simulations on the vehicle level, which predicts fuel consumption (CO2 production) in drive cycles. The tool is modular and can be implemented on various simulation models of a multi-cylinder combustion engine with various combustion architecture.
