    The purpose of this chapter is to describe how one can reduce the mathematical model of a 3D flow through the turbine wheel to a 2D model. The idea is analogous to the case of a flow around just one profile (like an airplane wing), which is in fact three-dimensional, but its mathematical model is mostly being reduced (under natural assumptions) to a 2D model.
