Design of a punching tool with variable shearing gap
Original language description
This paper presents the design of a simple punching tool for producing specimens for the Hole Expansion Test. It is designed to produce specimens with different shear gap sizes and to simulate tool wear. The key prerequisite of the tool is the ability to alter the shear gaps easily and, if possible, to simulate a tool wear condition. The samples produced will be used to investigate the effect of shear operation settings on susceptibility to edge cracking, a problem that is becoming increasingly common in the industry.
