Ruthenium-based electrodes for electrooxidation of organic pollutants from industrial wastewater
Original language description
Advanced oxidation processes present a promising alternative for wastewater treatment. They enable the use of electrochemical oxidation for treating industrial wastewater from coating processes. For this treatment process, a ruthenium/ruthenium oxide-coated titanium electrode was tested. The coating was applied via magnetron sputtering and subsequently thermally oxidised. The efficiency of the treatment was assessed in terms of the reduction of chemical oxygen demand, with a focus on key parameters such as current density, pH, and chloride concentration. This approach offers a cost-effective alternative to noble-metal-based anodes for an advanced oxidation process.
