Original language description
The present work deals with the numerical simulation of the aeroacoustic sound generated by an industrial axial fan. The used generic fan benchmark case has been issued by the European Acoustics Association under the name “A Benchmark Case for Aerodynamics and Aeroacous- tics of a Low-Pressure Axial Fan” [4]. The main goal of the work is to validate the numerical procedure for the prediction of the sound pressure level (SPL) generated by the fan and to com- pare the results with the experimental data provided in [4]. The numerical procedure is based on the hybrid approach, where the flow field is computed first and the acoustic field is computed in a second step using the results of the flow simulation. The computational domain consists of three parts: the inlet domain, the rotor domain, and the outlet domain.
