This paper presents simulation and experimental validation of a Dual Active Bridge (DAB) DC/DC converter. The purpose of the design is to convert solar energy to battery storage in LiFePO4 cells. In the simulation part, the device functionality is examined and reactions to various states, such as load change or short circuit, are tested. The prototype is then designed, built, and verified. It is measured with varying load. The experimental results show that it can work without a heat sink. The maximum load tested was 307 W and the maximum efficiency 91.3 %. This indicates that the design could be used with a higher switching frequency, reducing the size of the passive components. It could also be used to transfer higher power.
