Information Measures in Possibility Theory
Original language description
The considerable attention has been attracted to information theory for non-additive measures of uncertainty in the context of the fuzzy modeling. This effort resulted among others in defining several information measures for Dempster-Shafer evidence theory. In the contribution, I will discuss properties of information quantities called the aggregate uncertainty and the nonspecificity within the framework of possibility theory that may be viewed as a special part of Dempster-Shafer theory for this purpose. We adopt an axiomatic approach of possibility theory as formulated by de Cooman. Since the aggregate uncertainty is conceived as a possibilistic counterpart of the Shannon entropy, basic properties of the aggregate uncertainty are compared with thoseof the Shannon entropy. The fundamental properties of the nonspecificity are explored as well. A relation between possibilistic independence (parameterized by a continuous t-norm) and the additivity requirement frequently imposed on unc.
