Magnetic Field on LCR Gravimeters
Original language description
A correct interpretation of the results of very precise relative gravity measurements needs a good knowledge of external disturbing effects on the gravimeters. Among them the effects of the magnetic field sometimes cannot be neglected. Experimental investigations of magnetic effects on the LCR gravimeters No.137, No.176 and No.1068 were carried out at the Geodetic Observatory Pecný. In experiments an artificial magnetic field generated by a Helmholtz coil was used. Relations between the gravimeter records and the magnetic field were determined for both the horizontal and the vertical component of the vector of magnetic induction. An extreme sensitivity to magnetic field changes up to 6 nm s-2/uT was found with the gravimeter LCR G No.137. A significantreduction of this disturbing effect by a factor of 1/30 was achieved by placing the gravimeter into the permalloy cylinder NiFe 79.
