Problem of Signal Discontinuities in Digital Amplitude Modulator
Original language description
This report concerns the digital amplitude modulator and especially the problem of discontinuities of the digitally modulated signal. In contrast to the classical IQ modulator, digital amplitude modulator's input baseband signal is digital. The complex envelope is expressed by its magnitude and phase. The level of distortion depends on the sampling frequency. Therefore high oversampling is often used. On the other hand here are shown cases of low and none oversampling. The modulated signal is then shaped by analog and digital filtration or by only analog filtration respectively. Design of both filters is shown. All simulations are realized for OFDM modulation in program environment Matlab. Modulated signal represents signal of system DRM (Digital RadioMondial).
