    Slotline Leaky Wave Antenna with a Stacked Substrate

  • Original language description

    This paper presents a new version of a leaky wave antenna based on a conductor backed slotline with a stacked substrate. The antenna radiates due to a first order space leaky wave excited on a slotline with a wide slot. The main lobe of the radiation pattern is relatively wide and there is an intensive radiation to a backward direction and below the substrate. This parasitic radiation is reduced by 7 dB by adding a simple reflector. The reflector is created by shaping the background metal layer. Producing this background layer larger than the substrate additionally reduces the radiation below the substrate by 3 dB. The reflector moreover reduces the width of the main beam.
